Vat Savitri Aarti Overview
Vat Savitri Vrat Katha PDF A fast in which all women who believe in Hinduism wish for the long life of their husbands and the birth of children. This fast is very popular in North India and it is observed in some states in South India as well. The festival of Vat Purnima Vrat is especially celebrated in South India including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa. This festival is celebrated in the same way as the festival of Vat Savitri Vrat is celebrated in North India. While Vat Savitri Vrat is observed on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month, Vat Purnima Vrat is observed on the full moon day of Jyeshtha month. It is believed that married women who observe this fast get the fruit of unbroken good fortune and there is happiness, peace and long life of the husband in the house.
There are different opinions regarding the date of this fast in the mythological texts. In fact, this fast is observed on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month and the full moon day of the same month. While according to Nirchanamrit, Vat Savitri fast is observed on the new moon day of Jyeshtha month, Skanda Purana and Bhavishyottara Purana instruct to do it on Jyestha Purnima.

Puja Vidhi:
- Shiva has told Goddess Parvati that on the day of Savitri Vrat, one should take a morning bath and take the blessings of one’s father-in-law.
- Sit near the Vata tree and invoke the five deities and Lord Vishnu.
- Take three Kush and sesame seeds and invoke Brahma and Goddess Savitri.
- Om Namo Savitri with Brahma Come here Stay here and be well established.
- After that, offer water, akshat, sindur, sesame seeds, flowers, garlands, offerings, pan.
- Take a mango or other fruit and offer water on top of it on the vat.
- Circle the Vat tree 7 or 21 times while wrapping the raw thread.
