Overview of Kushmanda Mata
According to Hindu mythology, during the time of creation, there was a huge void or darkness, and there was no life or energy. It was then that the goddess Kushmanda emerged from the void and created the universe. The name “Kushmanda” comes from two words, “Ku” meaning little, and “Ushma” meaning warmth or energy. It is believed that the goddess Kushmanda created the world by warming up the universe with her divine energy.
The legend goes that in the beginning, there was nothing but darkness and chaos. The gods were unable to create anything as there was no energy to fuel their efforts. It was then that the goddess Kushmanda appeared, and with a mere smile, she created the universe. Her smile filled the universe with light, and her energy gave birth to the sun, moon, and stars.
In her four arms, she holds a lotus, a chakra, a bow, and arrows. She rides a lion and is often depicted with a radiant face and a benevolent smile. Her worship during the festival of Navratri is believed to bring prosperity, success, and good health.
It is also believed that the goddess Kushmanda is associated with the Manipura Chakra, located in the navel region of the human body. By worshipping her, it is said that one can activate this chakra, which helps to improve digestion, boost metabolism, and enhance overall well-being.
